The “wrong” response that cost a couple £250,000 was criticised by viewers of Ant and Dec’s Limitless Win.
After being asked how long a Henry vacuum cleaner’s cable is, contestants Richard and Lorna lost out on banking £250,000 in an episode that aired on January 12.
Ant and Dec asked: “In metres, how long is the electrical cable on a standard Henry vacuum cleaner?”
After discussing the matter, the two concluded that it was between eight and 10 metres long. They chose eight metres, but quickly discovered that 10 was the right response.
However, some viewers doubted this and posted screenshots that showed 8.4-metre cords for sale that were compatible with Henry vacuum cleaners.
One user said: “henry hoover cable, 8.4mtrs, they guessed 8, then programme came up with 10 mtrs…. gone right off this quiz show”
Another user added: “Pay up @ITV#limitlesswin Clearly they were right!”
However, the length is listed as 10 metres long on the brand’s website just as ITV said it was.
Despite this loss, the pair still managed to walk away with the impressive prize of £30,000.
Even if the pair had won £250,000, they still wouldn’t be the biggest winner of the show.

NHS workers Helen and Charlie have come top so far when they won £1 million on Saturday January 13, 2024.
When the pair correctly answered the question: “2024 marks how many years since Blur beat Oasis to the UK number one spot with the song Country House” they were able to bank £100,000 and win £1 million.
When questioned about the weight of the shield worn by the Marvel character Captain America, the married couple then lost lives.
The pair cashed out at £1 million when they couldn’t agree on a response regarding Nasa’s Perseverance Rover on Mars.
After the show aired, the couple were asked what they will be doing with the money. Charlie said: “We are going to take our time deciding what to do as this will change things significantly for us.
“We will pay off our mortgage and Helen has a significant birthday this year, so we are planning to go to New Zealand to see one of Helen’s closest friends who lives there.
“We also need a new (second hand) car which might now be a bit nicer than we were planning. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us so we will use the majority of it to set us and our children up for the future.”
Is the prize pot actually limitless?
The top prize appears to have no limit to how much contestants can win.
The game enters a “sudden death” phase if the discrepancy between the team’s guess and the right response is precisely enough to consume all the players’ remaining lives.
