Some suspected shoplifters had a truly epic moment, which was recently caught on video.

Police in Seal Beach, California, released a video montage of three women from earlier in December. You can see the women allegedly walking into an Ulta Beauty store, and then walking out with a lot of stuff. The police allege the suspects took nearly $650 worth of goods. The video also shows them going into another store, Kohls, allegedly racking up even more items (worth about $240), all to the tune of “These Boots Are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra.

Then the video cuts to the denouement, when the police catch up to them, and take them into custody. You see two very unhappy women in the police car. That’s when you hear them talking about the new law that passed in California. The police have a message for them too. This video is amazing, especially the part at the end.

Warning for graphic language:

One asks, “Is it a felony?”

The other tells her, “B**ch, new laws. Stealing is a felony.”

“This is Orange County, B**ch. They don’t play,” she says.

The police then end the video with, “Don’t steal in Seal.”

Boom. Now that’s some ending line from the cops. How delicious is that?

They posted it on their official department’s Instagram account, with a “friendly reminder” and a hat tip to Nancy Sinatra:

One of mother’s [sic] favorite songs and a friendly reminder that Proposition 36, which increases punishments for some retail theft and drug possession offenses, went into effect Wednesday morning in California.

It undoes some of the changes voters made with a 2014 ballot measure that turned certain nonviolent felonies into misdemeanors, effectively shortening prison sentences and leading to a spike in retail theft and crime.

Here in Seal Beach we never believed in the cite and release program, but this new proposition only strengthens our commitment to combatting Organized Retail Theft.

Remember folks, Don’t Steal in Seal 🦭🍊

Proposition 36 ups the penalties for some theft crimes. For example, it allows felony charges for thefts under $950, if defendant has two prior theft convictions.

Small wonder, as the Seal Beach police note, there was a spike in retail crime after the ballot measure passed in 2014. When people found out when there were no real consequences for many thefts, if people swiped stuff worth under $950, there was a big increase in the crime. But Democratic politicians being Democratic politicians– they don’t consider the harmful results of their policies.

Now the new law being passed is a sign of the times. People are so fed up even in California, they’re demanding change; they’re showing they want some action holding criminals accountable, and they aren’t going to stand for all the shoplifting that has been going on.  Proposition 36 passed with almost 70 percent of the vote.  It was a full-throated rejection of these failed Democratic policies in the state.
