“I Used To Work Here”: Billy Crystal Returns To Oscars Stage, Quotes ‘When Harry Met Sally’ In Reunion With Meg Ryan
The 2025 Oscars steered largely clear of reunions until the very last award of the night, presented by When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. They were introduced by this year’s Oscar host Conan O’Brien who called Crystal the greatest Oscar host ever.
“It’s great to be back at this show, I used to work here,” said Crystal who has presided over the Academy Awards nine times.
“When was the first time?,” Ryan asked.
“Nine tuxedos ago,” Crystal replied, adding that his first time hosting was 35 years ago this month to a big applause from the audience.
“Let’s cut to the chase,” Ryan suggested with the Best Picture winner left to announce.
Added Crystal, “Because when you have a chance to be a Oscar winner for the rest of your life, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
That was a take on one of the most famous lines from romcom classic When Harry Met Sally, “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
