Gregg Wallace marked his return to social media with a series of cryptic comments after stepping back from BBC show MasterChef in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.

Gregg, 60, is accused of making sexualised jokes and other inappropriate remarks dating back almost 20 years to women he worked with. Wallace denies the allegations, commenting last year that his accusers were all “middle-class women of a certain age”.

After a break from Instagram, Gregg is now active once more on the platform – and has made a cryptic statement about “asking for help”.

In one post to his Instagram Story – set to a musical backdrop of Fragile by Sting – he snapped a photo of the London skyline with the caption: “Ask yourself today what will I do well.”

He then posted what looked to be an AI-generated image of two women at a crossroads emblazoned with the word “change”. Gregg added: “We often want to change but fear it. We feel comfort in routine, even if that routine is harmful. We shouldn’t be afraid of asking for help.”

Other than his latest posts, Gregg’s social media has stayed mainly with a cooking theme – and on Friday (February 7) he posted a recipe for lentil curry. He’s also helping fans to cook a breakfast crumble and protein pancakes as part of his Gregg Wallace Health venture.

It comes after telly chef Rick Stein confessed he feels “a bit sorry” for Gregg in the wake of allegations from women including Newsnight’s Kirsty Wark.

Rick told The Telegraph: “I think partly he hadn’t really taken on that you can’t say certain things now. It’s not so much that he was a nasty person. I’m lucky that I’ve got sons who will instantly tell me, ‘Listen, you can’t say this’. And if you don’t pick up on that, the fact that things change, well that’s not very clever.

“I feel a bit sorry for him really. But I don’t like sleaziness so I’m not saying that [about all of Wallace’s behaviour]. But he just didn’t realise that the wind had changed.”
